Remember, Remember, the 5th of November, Gunpowder, Treason and Plot. On November 5, 1605, Guy Fawkes and a group of radical English Catholics tried to assassinate King James I in a plot to blow up Parliament's House of Lords. The plot went South after a letter of warning was sent to the brother-in-law of one of the conspirators. This resulted with all the conspirators being executed. The King created a Holiday of Thanksgiving, Guy Fawkes Day. We can all get together and celebrate the King's Great fortune.
