[00:02:05] well, we're going to talk about prepper gifts. One of the big things, I mean, the highlight is when we

[00:02:14] get to the end, we're going to talk about things that maybe you should get for Christmas because

[00:02:18] that's always what puts a smile on my face. But it turns out nicer people, people who are better

[00:02:24] than us, better than me and Kevin, I mean, not the audience. People who are better than me and Kevin

[00:02:31] get joy giving gifts to other people and looking out for them. So that's something you guys might

[00:02:38] be interested in as well. So what it is, is what I always like, you want to kind of get your family

[00:02:47] and friends into prepping and, you know, have them prepared as well. Cause you know, if we're all

[00:02:54] prepared, then, you know, you know, you always hear these people when things go bad, I'm coming to your

[00:03:00] house. Well, we don't, we don't always want that. Yeah. You know, we want people to be able to take

[00:03:05] care of themselves and self-reliant. And that's what we try and teach our kids as they grow up and

[00:03:10] you want them to be independent and successful and, and handle their own stuff. So turns out getting

[00:03:18] people into prepping is a great idea. And sometimes it's not just inspiring them to do prepping. It's also

[00:03:28] helping them out so that they are prepared. And, and I think the holidays, we end up all throwing a lot

[00:03:35] of money at things and spending money on, uh, uh, you know, nonsense things that, you know,

[00:03:43] I'll just buy them a sweater or I'll just give them a gift card or I'll, you know, cause we don't know,

[00:03:48] you don't know what's right. I mean, the safe bet with me is, is alcohol. You know, if you buy me

[00:03:54] alcohol, it's going to get used. It's going to work out. Yeah. Now, honestly, we ought to do a,

[00:03:58] an entire show on how to select the right bourbon for your friends and family, but I mean, exactly.

[00:04:03] You know, if you wanted to have a bourbon, you know, a bourbon of the month club for me,

[00:04:09] that would be a good gift. You know, you can do that. Um, 12 bottles of bourbon might be a little

[00:04:16] pricey on what you were actually going to spend on me, but you know, Hey, you do you, right? That's,

[00:04:21] that's the way it goes sometimes. So I think most of the stuff I came up with is, is really to

[00:04:29] help out my family, make them more prepared with things that they're both going to appreciate

[00:04:36] and things that they're going to, you know, um, you know, that's going to help them in a jam.

[00:04:42] So Kevin, uh, do you have any, uh, items like what's your, your number one item that comes to mind?

[00:04:49] I mean, it doesn't, I, there's a lot of things for preparedness that can help people out.

[00:04:54] I'm going to, I'm going to tell you my number one gift that I, I like to receive personally.

[00:05:01] Oh, that I, I feel like other people also like it.

[00:05:05] Would like it besides whiskey.

[00:05:08] But when Christmas comes, it's like the, the signifier, like things are getting cold.

[00:05:13] It's winter time. You know what I mean? Christmas is the beginning of winter basically.

[00:05:17] And, uh, you know, I like some wool socks, be honest with you, keeping your feet warm.

[00:05:24] Anytime you're wearing boots, anytime you're going hiking, anytime you're out in, uh,

[00:05:28] like cold, wet weather, having some good wool socks on your feet is, is a big deal to me.

[00:05:33] And that's like, uh, what is it? The classic boring ass, you know, socks and underwear.

[00:05:39] That's what you got for Christmas. I get excited when I get those things.

[00:05:42] Right. So, I mean, I'll just, I'll just put it out there that, I mean, that's, that's a classic cold weather gear, you know,

[00:05:49] gloves, hats, that sort of stuff. Uh, it's good to get a, a refresh right at the beginning of winter as things roll in.

[00:05:56] But that's, you know, I would even one up that with, you know, like a quality winter coat or a good pair of, you know,

[00:06:11] prepares people, you know, um, one of the things that, that we're looking at, you guys had seen recently that that 1791 EDC.

[00:06:21] Um, I had gotten that like holster that does like the Leatherman and the flashlight that I use at work.

[00:06:28] They have thick belts and they have things for, you know, that kind of stuff.

[00:06:31] To me, that kind of thing is pretty awesome. Um, like the utility of it, it just makes you more efficient and people like quality and it's with them every day, you know, like a good belt or something.

[00:06:46] Right.

[00:06:47] That's something you're going to, you know, is going to get used and, you know, you don't think of it as sexy and exciting.

[00:06:53] You know, it's like socks. Like you said, it's not something where you're like, Ooh, thank God I got a belt or socks, but you know what?

[00:07:02] It's something you're going to use and it's something you're going to enjoy.

[00:07:05] Um, I guess one of the things where inspiring preparedness that comes to mind with, uh, with, with me is, uh, uh, those jumper booster cables, uh, not, not just regular jumper cables,

[00:07:22] but they have those like battery boxes. They, uh, those are great to have in the car and you know, it sucks when you get stuck and you can't, and you know, nobody's like, Oh, that's what I wanted.

[00:07:34] That was on my list. Probably not. But I got to say, is that something that's going to help them out and make them a little bit more prepared and keep your kid from being stuck on stranded on the side of the road and desperate to me?

[00:07:46] That's, that's a big hit.

[00:07:48] One of the things I wanted to get into is, is, uh, some of the, some of the kits.

[00:07:53] Okay.

[00:07:54] Now, a lot of the kits that you go buy online are trash. You know what I mean?

[00:07:59] They have like a bunch of cheap garbage shit in there and all the stuff, you know what I mean? But it's all trash.

[00:08:07] Um, so you can make your own kit with quality stuff in it.

[00:08:11] Yes.

[00:08:11] You know, you can look up, look up one of these things and just rip it off. You know what I mean?

[00:08:16] You don't even have to come up with your own ideas.

[00:08:18] They'll have the inspiration.

[00:08:20] Yeah.

[00:08:21] Um, but a good car kit would be something like, um, jumper, jumper cables or the battery box that you're talking about, the car charger.

[00:08:28] Um, some sort of a fix a flat type thing for your tires just to inflate it and get some.

[00:08:33] Right. I mean, that's it. Fix a flat is, isn't the miracle like that, you know, people are like, Oh, I don't like to use it.

[00:08:39] It kind of puts bad stuff in the tires, that kind of stuff.

[00:08:42] But it's better than being stuck on the highway and desperate and whatever.

[00:08:47] Having it as a backup. Awesome.

[00:08:49] So yeah, like a car preparedness. I like it.

[00:08:52] Tow ropes and first aid kit is, is in there.

[00:08:55] Um, but you know, uh, survival kit is, is probably a little bit cheaper if you want to go basic with it stuff and, and just get like a quality multi-tool first aid kit flashlight, the basics that you could just, you know, give your aunt Susie or your, uh, your nephew, uh, Tim, uh, uh, little bag.

[00:09:16] Yeah. Of, uh, you know, emergency gear. So lights go out, power goes out, big storm coming in, whatever it is, you've got, you know, you've got your gear all set aside in one spot. It's not a whole bug out bag type thing, but just an emergency kit.

[00:09:31] I would emphasize what you said of, uh, putting it in a bag, having something that it's going to be a go-to. Oh, I know I have stuff there. Um, you know, setting it up that way that that's going to help. I think that's, that's definitely a plus.

[00:09:45] And a big part of the money that you're, you're spending on that stuff should go towards the bag, getting a, getting something quality, either backpack, look, you know, stuff or, uh, you know, something that's easily carried and not break down.

[00:09:57] You know, I just threw out a couple of bags the other day that were just, uh, you know, like old backpacks. They're old backpacks are great. You know, kids use them for school for one year and then whatever. But, you know, you get the low quality ones sometimes and they get holes in them and they're just, you know, old ratty shit. It's something that's, that's going to hold up and, and stand up. You know, the bag itself is going to be worth.

[00:10:19] Right. And that's a lot. I mean, maybe your kids, maybe you have a little time throughout the year to plan. Like you could do a, a get home bag or something for your kid, but typically you're probably looking at 150 bucks to put something quality together with everything in there.

[00:10:36] And if that's in your budget, that might be exactly, you know, what the perfect gift is, is really to, you know, the gift of preparedness kind of thing. Just having that get home bag in the car and able to, you know, do it. You know, we've done videos on how to put those together. So you can check that out, but that's going to be a great, you know, option where you can, uh, you know, just take really bless somebody, take care of them and up their preparedness level.

[00:11:06] Um, next on my list, I have, uh, uh, like you had mentioned bags, but like a first aid kit. So this is like 13 bucks on Amazon. I actually have this exact kit. Um, it just, they have like little get home bag kind of thing, uh, band-aids and it has like packets of something with like triple antibiotic and different things like that.

[00:11:32] If you got a bag like that, just search, you know, first aid kits on Amazon, but something good. And then actually go through it and make sure there's something there. Like you want something that's a starter, but you know, then you want to make sure that the stuff in there is quality, you know, that you're not getting.

[00:11:49] Um, but again, I, you know, um, next on my list, I, I gotta say, you know, food storage. Um, everybody knows that the long-term food storage companies, you're not getting the bang for your buck as well as if you prepare it yourself.

[00:12:05] You know, we know that all day long, right. Um, when they fill them with rice, they fill them with nonsense that, yeah, it's cool. And it's going to fill bellies, but man, you're paying a lot of money for the fact that it's going to last 25 years.

[00:12:21] Yeah. For rice and beans, you're, you're paying a lot, but on the flip side of that, sending your kid a month of long-term food storage, probably not a bad idea.

[00:12:32] If you know, there's somebody who doesn't have any kind of preparedness and anything.

[00:12:37] Yeah. And you know, you can get, uh, get stuff like MREs and stuff like that, that are, you know, that'll hold up for a long time.

[00:12:44] Yep. They can put it in the closet and forget about it and then pull it out when it's needed.

[00:12:49] One of the ones I really liked, there's that Aguson farms, uh, you see on, uh, Amazon and stuff a lot, but you gotta be careful with that.

[00:12:59] They have these like number 10, 10 can buckets. Um, some will be like eight bucks and then some will be like 45.

[00:13:07] Just make sure you're getting what you expect, you know, as far as calories and value out of it.

[00:13:12] Yeah. Um, I usually watch for the sales and they'll have ones that are like 60% off.

[00:13:18] And that's like usually the only time I buy it, you know, and it's 45, 40, you know, 60, 50% off.

[00:13:25] Then I'm like, Ooh, it's on sale. I'll get that one. And I'll just throw it on the shelf as more backup.

[00:13:31] But you guys know, we love to fill, you know, five gallon buckets and rotate through our stock and like that.

[00:13:37] It's the go-to on food storage. It's just something that helps.

[00:13:41] Um, another thing that might actually excite people a little bit is they have those battery backups for people whose cell phones always die, that kind of thing.

[00:13:53] Yeah. Um, and they sell ones where it's like got a solar face on it. So it'll be like a flashlight. It'll charge.

[00:14:01] And, but having that battery backup, I gotta say when I got caught in a hurricane Helene here, we had that in the car and I didn't even have to think about my cell phone as far as my battery and stuff.

[00:14:17] Cause I was able to charge it several times with one of those things, those battery backups.

[00:14:23] And that's, you know, that's kind of peace of mind and keeping something like that in the car, that's pretty cool and easy.

[00:14:32] Yeah. This year I first, uh, got a, um, uh, solar powered, uh, generator, you know, portable, uh, portable, uh, energy bank.

[00:14:43] Yeah. And you can charge it, you know, you could plug it in the house, charge it up and, uh, we took it on a four day weekend and, um, we were able to keep our phones charged the whole time.

[00:14:55] Uh, no problems. And if it did run out, you know, it had the solar panel that you could just lay out and charge it back up.

[00:15:04] You know, I, I charged it up fully, uh, in the outlet and it took about an hour and 20 minutes.

[00:15:10] Okay. Uh, I got about a 20% charge with the solar bank for, uh, after about four hours in the sun.

[00:15:17] So, I mean, there's a, there's a bit of a difference there between, um, yeah, what it is, but you can definitely charge it back up easily.

[00:15:24] I mean, it's, you just lay it out, you know, and it's, it's ready to go. Uh, a lot of those small solar, uh, uh, solar panels are, are great.

[00:15:35] You know what I mean? When they're, they're portable, they're easy to use, lay it out and plug it in and, and you're in good shape.

[00:15:42] Obviously, if you're going through a hurricane, your power goes out, that solar, uh, power thing isn't going to do a whole lot of good for you.

[00:15:49] But, uh, the energy bank, you know, you can keep everything charged up and, and, you know, at least, you know, keep track of the weather and, and that sort of stuff that you can use with your smartphone.

[00:16:03] Yeah. No, I like it. That's, that's the thing. It's just, it's another level of preparedness and it keeps people going.

[00:16:09] Another great thing that kind of inspire people is camping gear, you know, kind of get people into camping and hiking.

[00:16:17] Maybe even send them on some kind of adventure or training. That kind of thing is pretty cool. You know, like, Hey, here's a, uh, you know, outdoor thing for two days or a week or whatever, you know, obviously buying somebody a vacation.

[00:16:32] You know, I, I don't think anybody turned down, Hey, you got me a cruise for next month. But when you're like, Hey, go camping for the next week, whatever.

[00:16:41] I don't know if that's as, as cool and exciting to your, your non-prepper people, but think about things like that that are outside the box.

[00:16:50] Uh, Kevin had mentioned the, uh, solar bank.

[00:16:53] They also have those like fold out solar panels, which again, Kevin could add to the one that he has, but they have ones that, you know, will charge and lay out that have like a little USB port.

[00:17:07] That you just kind of plug your phone in right to the fold out stuff. Uh, those vary greatly. A lot of the ones I see are like the one that always comes up when I search it on Amazon, the foldable solar panels or portable solar panels is always like 28 Watts.

[00:17:23] And it seems like a lot of money. I found one that I bought a right before prepper camp last year. Uh, was like 39 bucks. I had just been watching them kind of forever.

[00:17:36] And it was like 40 Watts for 39. And now I'm seeing 28 for 59. So I'm like, what the hell, you know? So that stuff does vary. You have to kind of put the effort into shopping around and see what you can find.

[00:17:50] I know with young kids, when I see kids, they get a ton of gifts, like they have these birthday parties and there's like 30 family members there and things like that. And they're just getting stacks of stuff and can't sort it through.

[00:18:02] I always like to drop like a silver coin or something, you know, and do something like that. That's more like longterm, you know, I'm going to have, cause who remembers the toy when you're eight years old that you got last year?

[00:18:14] Nobody cares about it, you know, but that silver coin is going to be something with them forever. So that's something to think about.

[00:18:21] Um, just a thought. Uh, what else are you thinking, Kevin?

[00:18:27] One of the things that, uh, that the younger guys like a lot is the, um, the walkie talkies and you can get some decent heavy duty, uh, walkie talkies.

[00:18:37] DeWalt has a heavy duty set. Um, but there's a lot of different companies and a lot of different ranges.

[00:18:43] You know what I mean? You can buy really shitty walkie talkies. So that's something to keep in mind. That's not, that's not what you want for the, for the guys.

[00:18:49] You want something that they can actually use, you know, some kind of a, a mile range or more, you know?

[00:18:55] Yeah. Now the Motorola's I think are pretty cool, but yeah, look for something that has, you know, the true CB channels and, uh, can get you in there and get you in the neighborhood.

[00:19:05] That's definitely, you know, a good way to go and inspiring. Uh, like I said, uh, another way to go is, uh, there's a lot of like prepper fiction that you could kind of ease people into kind of, you know, somebody who likes to read that kind of stuff.

[00:19:24] You could, you know, Hey, check out this series of, you know, one of these like, but you know, entry level, you got to think about that.

[00:19:33] You got to think about a novel that's gonna not really take them too far out of their comfort zone.

[00:19:40] And I'll be honest with you. A lot of the, the prepper novels that I've read have just been just terrible, you know, just awful things.

[00:19:48] You know what I mean? It's not, you know, it's not, uh, not something that's like, you know, just drawing you that you have to, you know, you have to read the next chapter, you know, got to find out what happens.

[00:19:59] And they're not really that, that great. So you want to do a little bit of shopping around and obviously, uh, focus it on who you're buying it for.

[00:20:06] You know what I mean? Exactly. If your family member is really religious, there's some, some cool ones out there.

[00:20:13] They're very involved with that. Some of them are, you know, uh, one that I read that was pretty good was, uh, uh, geared more towards kids, you know?

[00:20:23] Okay.

[00:20:23] And it was, um, it was a little bit more, uh, entertaining than, than some that I've, I've read.

[00:20:29] It's called, uh, uh, water.

[00:20:33] Okay.

[00:20:34] And, um, I don't know if that was the name of it now that I'm,

[00:20:37] that's, you know, in school, my kids had read the hatchet and, and thought that was, you know, the greatest thing and, and it inspired them.

[00:20:45] Uh, so, you know, it depends. It depends what's, you know, maybe you need to buy them.

[00:20:50] Uh, I don't know, like something crazier, like, uh, trying to think I'm thinking like ready player one.

[00:20:59] I'm thinking, uh, but that Enix Huxley, uh, what's his, uh, brave new world, right?

[00:21:07] Those, those used to be like standard.

[00:21:09] Yeah.

[00:21:10] Those used to be your standard like school books and now nobody, nobody sees that stuff.

[00:21:16] Yeah.

[00:21:17] 1984 is, uh, yeah.

[00:21:18] I mean, it's long past whatever, whatever happened in that book is already going on.

[00:21:23] So, I mean, that's maybe you need to get them back to like the little house on the prairie series.

[00:21:27] Right. Go back, go back to the old school.

[00:21:29] You know, who knows?

[00:21:32] How about, uh, how about water filtration?

[00:21:35] Oh, now it's kind of getting back towards the, uh, the camping gear type stuff.

[00:21:40] Yeah.

[00:21:40] Um, life straw makes a, makes a great product, but there's a lot of, uh, brands out there that do the same sort of thing.

[00:21:48] Um, yeah.

[00:21:49] Uh, water filters that, uh, uh, Sawyer.

[00:21:53] Yeah.

[00:21:53] There's a lot of good ones out there.

[00:21:55] Yeah.

[00:21:56] I got a message from somebody that was, um, they were in Spain.

[00:22:00] Um, and it didn't really hit the news over here, but there's some major flooding there last month.

[00:22:05] Yeah.

[00:22:06] Um, and the government really didn't, they weren't prepared for it.

[00:22:11] There was a big storm, a lot of rainfall.

[00:22:13] Government didn't, didn't really prepare ahead of time.

[00:22:16] Power failures and, and, uh, you know, houses getting flooded.

[00:22:20] And somebody was asking about, you know, I don't trust the water that's coming out of my tap right now.

[00:22:26] You know what I mean?

[00:22:27] I don't trust what's coming through here.

[00:22:29] And I don't know that it's safe to just drink it.

[00:22:33] You know, power's been out with the water still running.

[00:22:35] Like, can I drink this?

[00:22:37] And, uh, you know, there's a lot of stuff you can do for peace of mind for that sort of stuff.

[00:22:41] I, you know, I basically, I said, you need to filter the water, you know, run it through something

[00:22:46] and then boil it for, for 15 minutes.

[00:22:49] If you have a camp stove or a grill, but if not, you're going to have to like do some chemistry

[00:22:54] and, and put some bleach in there and, and, you know, this much bleach to this much water,

[00:23:00] it can be tricky to do that sort of stuff.

[00:23:02] If you don't have a system set up and those life straws and that sort of stuff,

[00:23:06] it's really comes in handy when, uh, when you get hit with an emergency.

[00:23:11] And there's even the bigger, like, I mean, it really depends on your budget and what you're

[00:23:15] planning to do, you know, how much you like the person, but they have like the big Berkey

[00:23:19] systems and cool stuff like that.

[00:23:21] You know, some people start to integrate that into their regular life, you know, of using

[00:23:26] these bigger substantial water filters.

[00:23:29] Um, I know my wife watches a channel on YouTube, uh, Roots and Refuge, and I know they're actually

[00:23:36] making American made water filters and selling those.

[00:23:40] So that's something you might want to, you know, look up, but there's different things that

[00:23:45] are, you know, pretty cool out there that could really, you know, Hey, they could help out.

[00:23:51] Um, yeah, a lot of good ideas.

[00:23:54] Like even just like tents and camping gear, um, for the water, you've probably, you've run

[00:24:01] some water plants in your day, right?

[00:24:03] Kevin, that that's your world, right?

[00:24:05] Yes.

[00:24:05] That's your expertise.

[00:24:06] Have you ever seen the possibility?

[00:24:08] Now I'm sure that the government would never know about this, but have you ever seen like

[00:24:13] a wastewater plant kind of overflow and flow into the rivers and streams?

[00:24:18] Has that ever happened?

[00:24:20] Yeah.

[00:24:21] Yeah.

[00:24:22] That happens a lot.

[00:24:23] That happens a lot.

[00:24:24] Now I live near the Hudson river and I just always hear stories of, you know, like them

[00:24:29] taking random tests of the water out of the river and finding, you know, human waste in it.

[00:24:35] Oh yeah.

[00:24:36] Which is ridiculous.

[00:24:37] Cause I remember swimming in it as a kid, you know, having it in my mouth and everything.

[00:24:41] Oh yeah.

[00:24:41] You know what I mean?

[00:24:42] Like eat those fish.

[00:24:43] It's all good.

[00:24:44] Yeah.

[00:24:45] And then I would recommend to anybody that's listening, don't go swimming in the Hudson river.

[00:24:48] It's not, no, it's not a, not a safe place.

[00:24:51] Especially the closer you get to the city, the more bodies you find.

[00:24:55] I don't know.

[00:24:55] Yeah.

[00:24:57] Yeah.

[00:24:57] When they're saying human waste in there, they mean to the full extent.

[00:25:03] Yeah.

[00:25:03] Every part in there.

[00:25:05] Yeah.

[00:25:05] Every, you know, and the thing is where a lot of that comes from and it's not, you know,

[00:25:10] it's not just the Hudson river.

[00:25:11] It's most rivers in the United States.

[00:25:13] And the problem is that people have septic tanks that they don't get pumped out and you

[00:25:19] get a heavy rain and it flushes all that waste right out over the bank into the water.

[00:25:24] And that's just everybody else's problem now.

[00:25:28] Yeah.

[00:25:28] Hey, better, better away.

[00:25:31] That's all I can say.

[00:25:32] So yeah.

[00:25:33] And then obviously people get their drinking water out of the Hudson river.

[00:25:37] People get their drinking water out of these streams that are, you know, in line with waste

[00:25:43] plants.

[00:25:43] Right now, obviously, hopefully it's not the output of the water treatment plant, the waste

[00:25:49] plant, and then right into the freshwater plant, but they're not that far away necessarily either.

[00:25:57] That's the next town over.

[00:25:59] Next town.

[00:26:00] Right.

[00:26:00] It's a different town.

[00:26:01] The wastewater plant is upstream of the, you know, where they take the water in for the

[00:26:06] water plant.

[00:26:07] So, I mean.

[00:26:07] So Kevin, would all the poos and things dissipate, say it goes seven miles upstream?

[00:26:13] Would that be completely gone by the time it gets there?

[00:26:16] Oh, no.

[00:31:42] And I got a call from my wife said that a tree fell down across the road front of our house.

[00:31:47] You know, it was kind of on the, the between mine and the neighbor's house and just fell

[00:31:53] And you didn't see it on the way to the dump.

[00:31:55] This happened while you were out.

[00:31:56] Well, she heard it fall down, you know, it was a big windstorm.

[00:31:59] And so I, I came home and I don't like the five minutes between when I got the phone

[00:32:05] call and when I got home, like all hella broken loose, I got home and there's a dump truck.

[00:32:10] The guy down the street got stuck on it.

[00:32:13] So the tree was going like down the middle of his car.

[00:32:16] And one of his front tires was just kind of dangling in the air.

[00:32:20] Whoa.

[00:32:20] She said he was just driving like 45 miles an hour.

[00:32:24] Didn't even slow down, hit this big ass tree.

[00:32:28] So I go over there and there's a car parked on the side of the street that he hit the

[00:32:34] tree so hard.

[00:32:35] It smashed the other car up to smack the tree into that.

[00:32:39] It was a big, big fucking disaster.

[00:32:42] And I'm fairly certain that the guy driving didn't have a license because, uh, or a sober,

[00:32:48] the one, the one guy told me he was driving.

[00:32:51] And then my wife's like, he wasn't driving.

[00:32:52] He was in the passenger seat.

[00:32:53] Yeah.

[00:32:54] So I don't know what was going on there.

[00:32:56] I know the guy that was supposedly driving didn't speak English.

[00:32:59] I think he only speaks Turkish, but whatever.

[00:33:02] I mean, I, I don't know.

[00:33:04] It was a big disaster though.

[00:33:30] You know, you don't have the money to get the stuff that you need to have.

[00:33:33] And it's good to be able to start to have somebody build up their, their tool.

[00:33:38] You know, it takes a whole lifetime to build a full quality set of tools.

[00:33:43] You know, um, and I think that goes a long way when it comes to, um, that sort of stuff,

[00:33:50] toolkits, toolboxes, um, ratchet sets, wrench sets.

[00:33:54] That's the trick is to yard sale that stuff, man.

[00:33:56] When, when the older people pass on and whatever, and all their tools are up for sale.

[00:34:04] You know, you find somebody like me when I'm gone, somebody is going to come in and be

[00:35:25] And yeah, now quality tools are priceless.

[00:35:33] But I think always the go to like starter thing is like a young kid going out a socket set is

[00:35:45] It needs to be, you know, maybe up to three quarter inch, you know, and then something

[00:35:50] reasonable, maybe metric and standard.

[00:35:53] But aside of that, you know, you can get these for like $29, $59 in those neighborhoods.

[00:36:03] And then the next as far as power tools, to me, a good cordless drill is your first entry

[00:36:09] tool, you know, as far as like I'm becoming a man.

[00:38:24] But, you know, some you get like you're grabbing something one time and you're slipping already.

[00:38:34] You know, look for a little bit of quality.

[00:38:36] But it's sometimes better to get people less things, but better quality.

[00:38:45] How many Christmases have you gone through with little kids in the house and you just tons of plastic garbage that, you know, they're going to use a couple of times and that's it.

[00:38:57] The toy box bin that, you know, has a bunch of Barbies missing clothes and GI Joes with no accessories and all that sort of stuff.

[00:39:07] But, you know, it's very easy to get somebody something that they're going to actually use.

[00:39:18] And that really should be what your focus is.

[00:39:21] Something that can be helpful in an emergency.

[00:39:24] Something that they might use when they go camping, when they go hiking.

[00:39:28] Those are the, you know, the types of tools that, you know, really stick with people when they look back where they got it, you know, three years from now and they're still using the same thing.

[00:39:42] I mean, just that's honestly, whenever I buy anything, I'm like, well, what does this sell for at a yard sale?

[00:39:49] You know, what kind of value does this really have?

[00:39:52] You know, and that's something you might want to ask yourself.

[00:39:55] And I got to say, getting into debt, never a good idea.

[00:39:59] And when it comes time for gift giving, give what you can and don't give anymore.

[00:40:05] You got to think about, you know, going and getting three or four grand in credit card debt to make it through the holidays.

[00:40:16] I mean, I understand, you know, your little kids need, you know, something nice under the tree or whatever.

[00:40:26] And, you know, I remember when I was younger and dumber, you know, I bought more fancy things under the tree for my kids than maybe, you know, I should have.

[00:40:40] So that's, you know, that's saying something.

[00:40:48] Do what's right for you.

[00:40:49] You know, it's more about caring about people, helping them out.

[00:40:52] And just being a good person is more important than going and, you know, spending money.

[00:40:59] So just, you know, keep that in the back of your mind when you're doing stuff.
