[00:01:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Alright, welcome back to the Survival and Basic Badass Podcast, Kevin and Chuck. Today,

[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_00]: we're going to talk about Faraday Cage and I gotta say there's a lot going on so kind of buckle up.

[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Kevin, first of all, why do you need a Faraday Cage? Well, Faraday, yeah, go ahead.

[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_01]: We did a big show last week right about E.M.P. So this is kind of a follow-up part two if you will

[00:01:33] [SPEAKER_01]: to last week's episode. And this is last week we talked about E.M.P.s, this episode we're going

[00:01:41] [SPEAKER_00]: to talk about how to protect from it. Exactly. Basically, you know, the world could end and you

[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_00]: could be screwed and not have anything. Well, you could not have anything if you don't plan. So

[00:01:56] [SPEAKER_00]: that's really what it comes down to. So as purpose, we're always looking for the next solution,

[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_00]: and that's what it comes down to. So Faraday Cage, Kevin, how do they all come to be? Like,

[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_00]: what is, how does it even work, what's going on there? Right. So it's named after Michael Faraday,

[00:02:16] [SPEAKER_01]: who is a nerd from the 1800s. He basically invented the diano-electric generator, electric motor,

[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_01]: a bunch of stuff, chemistry and electromagnetism were his things. And he had a lot of inventions.

[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Ultimately though, what you want to do is make a way to conduct the electromagnetic pulse

[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_01]: around your stuff versus through it. Right. And that's what we're doing is we're protecting

[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_00]: against the EMP or a solar flare. I mean, either way, it's an electromagnetic pulse that we're

[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_00]: trying to protect against. And basically imagine, you know, I mean, think of it like the image

[00:03:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I think would be like think of radiation. You know, it's not radiation, but it's electrons, right?

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it's radiation. I don't know, I'm not a scientist. But kind of both. Not a mind. Yeah,

[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_00]: it gets bombarded with charged electrons, right? And so basically we're looking for a way to shield

[00:03:27] [SPEAKER_00]: it so that those electrons spread out around the Faraday cage. And that's the idea. Now,

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_00]: obviously everything we talk about is relative to how close you are to the blast kind of thing,

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_00]: how close you are to the source of the disruption. And, you know, if you're right there,

[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_00]: even the most protected stuff might get damaged. If you're far away, you know, having it in the

[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_00]: shed might be enough. You know that's kind of what it comes down to is it's all relative to where

[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_00]: you are. But obviously, as a proper, you do the best you can. Now, if you've even heard that

[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_01]: having a metal roof that's grounded can protect if it's not like if you're not very close to

[00:04:18] [SPEAKER_00]: the, again, it's, it's how close. You know, if you're in the main blast area, but it really kind

[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_00]: of, you know, as we discussed last week, doesn't matter if the whole grid goes down, you're kind of

[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_00]: so well, you know, with the whole thing anyway. So it's all kind of relative. But,

[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_00]: so basically we're going to talk about how to build a Faraday cage and towards the end of the

[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_00]: episode or the second half, we're going to talk about things you might want to put in it. And there's

[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_00]: a lot of things, some things you might not think about that really could make the difference and

[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_00]: the game changer. Blue metal roof, right? Hawaii, it kept you from the lasers. It could keep

[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_00]: you from, you know, just say it's lasers all that stuff. Yeah. I kind of goes down to that conspiracy

[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_00]: theory maybe I don't know. But, all right. So any more on the Faraday cage, it's just, yeah,

[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_01]: they close metal box or well, let's, yeah, let's talk about a couple of things that are kind of

[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Faraday cage is right off the bat. Cars and airplanes, if you're inside the car or the airplane,

[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_01]: that's going to afford you some protection. Things that aren't going to be protected are like

[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_01]: wireless door locks in your car if your car is locked where you're driving, you might have to

[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_01]: manually pull the little thing up to get out. Oh, that's hard. Airball, GPS systems and radios that

[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_01]: they're out. And any Wi-Fi stuff that you have, you know, if you have your phone connected to

[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_01]: your car or something like that, it's going to disrupt that. So you're saying having an antenna

[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_00]: might actually absorb the electricity, the charge, I mean, ultimately, you know, how, you know,

[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_01]: cars with the rubber tires, you know, you're safe from lightning and it's kind of the same sort

[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_01]: of situation. Now, if you have, you know, delicate chips in your car like a lot of cars do,

[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_01]: you're, you're out of luck. I've heard two, two different things about about, like electric cars,

[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_01]: one that they're just, you're just out of luck and two that they are protected. So I don't know

[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_01]: which ones accurate there. Another thing that people use are booster bags, which I've never

[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_01]: really heard of until I start to read up on it, it's basically a shopping bag that you have

[00:06:45] [SPEAKER_01]: lined with aluminum foil and you can use that to like steel stuff that are, you know, that are,

[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_00]: that are, that are, I think, the chips and the, when you go out the door, yeah, it'll keep you

[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_00]: at alarm from setting off, you know, on a chocolate stuff. So that my Patriots play and I may actually

[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_00]: have some kind of affiliate thing for them, but honestly, I don't even think I do. So I'm just

[00:07:09] [SPEAKER_00]: giving you guys this because I'm a nice guy. That's the whole thing. They make something called

[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_00]: an like EMP Faraday bag and it's not the most attractive of all backpacks, although they

[00:07:22] [SPEAKER_00]: drag that it's waterproof and, and it's going to keep your stuff safe. I won't say if you were

[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_00]: making a go bag and you add all kinds of like night vision or thermal or something cool,

[00:07:35] [SPEAKER_00]: might be a cool thing that throw in the car, you know, and they're like 50 bucks for my Patriots

[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_00]: play so they're not a big deal. That could be a black Friday thing that's happening right now.

[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't really know. I just, I know it's 50 bucks right now. I can't tell you what tomorrow brings.

[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, so something like that, they definitely, there's a lot of companies that sell EMP bags.

[00:07:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Again, kind of like when we talked about EMP Shield last week, you want to make sure that

[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_00]: it's actually, you know, a company that's been tested and legitimate and it's actually going

[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_00]: to protect. You know, I know a lot of people have those, yes, D bags, the electrostatic bags

[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_00]: and they, you know, protect circuit boards when they come new and people will just keep those

[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_00]: and I've seen people sell those on the internet as EMP proof. And honestly, I just don't know.

[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know that they're tested at any level and and I think it really does depend, you know,

[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_00]: again, back to the how close you are and how good of a bag you got, you know, that kind of thing.

[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm. Right. So, you know, there's fair day suits. It was just reading about that.

[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_01]: They, that line menus to keep from getting fried. There's a couple of interesting little things

[00:08:53] [SPEAKER_01]: here. Elevators, obviously, you know, a lot of the time if you've ever used an elevator,

[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_01]: your cell phone doesn't work in there. They were not a firefighter, it's about the same thing like

[00:09:03] [SPEAKER_01]: the radio and their comms will work if they use the elevator.

[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. So, okay. So that's kind of thing. I mean, like anywhere that, you know, your cell phone

[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_00]: and I don't mean because you're far away from the tower, right? But if you walk in your house

[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_00]: and your cell phone stops working, well there's a chance that your stuff in the house is going to be

[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_00]: more protected than the other guy. Right. You know, that's the, the bottom line. Um,

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_00]: so you want to kind of jump into a fair day cage or you got a little bit more here. Yeah, let's,

[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_00]: let's talk about building one for, uh, all right, we're front and profit. So the simple,

[00:09:39] [SPEAKER_00]: the simple easy fair day cage is a metal garbage can. Um, right. You know, we did a video or

[00:09:48] [SPEAKER_00]: we actually like put it together and stuff. But um, I could definitely show you guys what I got.

[00:09:55] [SPEAKER_00]: So you can buy the big metal garbage cans or you can buy those small. I don't even know what

[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_00]: it looks like five, ten gallon there. Uh, probably three to five gallon. Yeah. You know,

[00:10:09] [SPEAKER_00]: and they sell those at low as in tractor supplies. It says six gallons. Yeah. Um, so

[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_00]: and they sell those at low as in tractor supply. Now the deal is metal garbage can. Now

[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_00]: anywhere that you have a handle or a lid, right? If you have a handle, there's going to be holes

[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_00]: put in there and you want to put foil tape over those holes or the seam down the side.

[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_00]: If there's a crack, again, it's levels of protection. If you just had it with the lid on,

[00:10:42] [SPEAKER_00]: might be okay. But if you're closer to the source, you're going to want foil tape, seal

[00:10:47] [SPEAKER_00]: in that lid all the way around. And you know, why wouldn't you put that little extra effort into,

[00:10:54] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, seal in it up and make it. Yeah. You know, you could even just wrap aluminum foil around the

[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_01]: around any of these. It's going to have to be tight. Now they also sell some, uh, some gaskets

[00:11:07] [SPEAKER_01]: that are all metal. I don't, I, I, I, I still have a really expensive. Yeah, they're really expensive.

[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_00]: They do like a metal mesh. Yeah. I mean, I've seen people make rooms out of this, uh, where

[00:11:18] [SPEAKER_00]: it's kind of like a screen material that they do and then, uh, they put a mesh around it.

[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Nate, I don't know. But bottom line, if you seal it up completely with metal. So the garbage can,

[00:11:31] [SPEAKER_00]: the foil tape, you're going to be good. I will say, if I was planning it out,

[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I would probably go to a bigger one. I have the six gallon and I have most of the basic electronic

[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_00]: stuff that I want in there, but you know, being the master proper that I am, right? It

[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_00]: cause you know, who's not the authority if not me, right? Anyway, so I would actually go to the

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_00]: bigger garbage can at this point because, you know, my supplies have increased and whatever over the years,

[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_00]: right? I have enough extra that I want to go in there. So now let's kind of dig into, uh, if you

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll go actually put a link with this video to the actual build video and then we'll put a link

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_00]: from that to what to put in it in addition, uh, that we made way back. They're like 10 minutes short,

[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_00]: kind of how to put together one way, so your time, but you can see specific, you know, detailed instructions.

[00:12:32] [SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, bottom line, there's not much to it. It's a garbage can with foil tape, right? And

[00:12:38] [SPEAKER_00]: sealing all the openings. Now one of the we tested it, but go on. Yeah, one of the, uh, one of the

[00:12:46] [SPEAKER_01]: comments on Kawasaki said, uh, you know, lining it with flexi on the inside, the disbring up a good

[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_01]: point though, that you don't want those electronics touching actual metal. You want some sort of a barrier.

[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, um, you know, it could just be a spacer, you know, I used cardboard in that that worked.

[00:13:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I mean, that seems like something that would be an insulator. You just want to have

[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_00]: something that it's not directly touching the metal. So we can actually crack open mine.

[00:13:16] [SPEAKER_00]: What I did is I actually put a paper bag on the inside and kind of fold that everything in it.

[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Right. Once again, it's one more layer of protection. If you didn't do it, wouldn't be the end of

[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_01]: world, but could you know, right. Right. So I mean, that might be the extra, you know, barrier

[00:13:39] [SPEAKER_01]: you're needed and I did the same thing, the truck did. I wrapped everything in foil and put it in the

[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_00]: the the metal can. And then, and then I went on to step further and I have them in those like ESD bags.

[00:13:52] [SPEAKER_00]: I think somebody sold these as like EMPproof bags, but I didn't really trust it. So

[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_00]: yeah, once again that was like some guy off eBay, but back in the day before you had 20 companies

[00:14:05] [SPEAKER_00]: out there making, you know, government tested and whatever. I've heard varying things, but

[00:14:11] [SPEAKER_01]: one of the ways that you can test your, your, your, your, uh, fairytale cage is, is you can put

[00:14:18] [SPEAKER_01]: yourself on in there. If your self-hone doesn't ring, um, good chances that it's, that it's working.

[00:14:27] [SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, that's not a guarantee. You know, it can be a control way to test it, but it's not

[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_01]: not just because just because your self-hone doesn't have any signal doesn't mean things in

[00:14:37] [SPEAKER_01]: their can't get damaged. Exactly. Um, you know, one thing that works good is a, uh, if you didn't

[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_01]: want to use a metal trash can, you can use an ammo box. Um, one of those metal ammo boxes. So,

[00:14:58] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, it's easy enough to build. Um, you can, like Chuck said, well I have a link on there.

[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_01]: But there is stuff that you want to keep in there that you want to keep, uh, keep safe. So what are

[00:15:12] [SPEAKER_01]: the things that you're going to put in a fairytale cage? Um, you know, obviously you're going to

[00:15:17] [SPEAKER_01]: want to start out with some basic stuff. Um, you're going to want to start up with some basic

[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_01]: stuff like radios, uh, some communication stuff, um, uh, whether radios is, you know, something

[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_01]: great, something that's going to give you, like a alerts and broadcast like that. A lot of basic

[00:15:36] [SPEAKER_01]: radios are going to be damaged. Um, your car, uh, you might hop in your car and be like,

[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_01]: all the power grids out, but I can start my car. But the radio might not work in the car.

[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_01]: We're rating them might have been damaged from, uh, in the, in the EMP. Um, some of the other

[00:15:53] [SPEAKER_01]: stuff that that can work in a pinch is a microwave ovens. They basically are fairytale cage.

[00:16:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Some refrigerator, some refrigerators. No, if your refrigerator doesn't seal perfectly,

[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_01]: which a lot of refrigerators don't, then it's not going to, not going to work very well.

[00:16:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. Now the gas gets in stuff. Yeah, it's all, it's all questionable. But again,

[00:16:19] [SPEAKER_00]: it's, it's a hundred percent better than nothing, you know? So one thing like big to me was

[00:16:26] [SPEAKER_00]: I did the Motorola talk about, um, radios. I feel like having comms after an event like that

[00:16:35] [SPEAKER_00]: is going to be huge, right? Right. That's going to be like a number one, you know, game change

[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_00]: or I mean, well, I would say number one would be a thermal scope. Number two would be night vision.

[00:16:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Number three would be comms. Right. Me, those are, you know, four small suppliers by a million times.

[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_00]: But imagine if you could have a guy out at the end of the block who is even a mile away,

[00:17:04] [SPEAKER_00]: right? Mm-hmm. And could call and say, hey, you know, there's a big angry mob coming to

[00:17:09] [SPEAKER_00]: loot and looking like they're causing trouble and alerting people to get everybody in the

[00:17:14] [SPEAKER_00]: position and whatever versus having the sender runner, which again is just an extra person

[00:17:20] [SPEAKER_00]: who just has to sit there all the time, right? To be able to end real time feedback, even if you

[00:17:27] [SPEAKER_00]: have a runner going back and forth the mile all over and over again, you're not getting real

[00:17:33] [SPEAKER_00]: time feedback. Right. So that's, you know, that's going to be huge. Another thing, so I threw a bunch of

[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_00]: like kind of inexpensive but I've actually tested and used and was really happy with a

[00:17:47] [SPEAKER_00]: some inexpensive like $40, you know, red dot sites for the eight hour. Right. There are things

[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_00]: that'd be batteries. I have them where they're actually rechargeable and it plugs in the side with

[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_00]: a little USB cable. Um, I have battery chargers and batteries. They're going to be huge.

[00:18:17] [SPEAKER_00]: I have a million little solar chargers for batteries, things you can, you know, just throw in there.

[00:18:26] [SPEAKER_00]: That's something that would be, you know, beneficial.

[00:18:29] [SPEAKER_00]: So I have power strip batteries that are going to, you know, I can plug into a solar panel.

[00:18:39] [SPEAKER_00]: That's something you might want to think about.

[00:18:42] [SPEAKER_00]: I also found to be pretty awesome is a lot of companies and these are small.

[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_00]: These are more for like the go bag and stuff but the little solar packs that are like

[00:18:54] [SPEAKER_00]: a flashlight and they end up, you know.

[00:18:58] [SPEAKER_01]: And those things are really inexpensive.

[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I think it was 20 bucks when I bought one of those and that was a couple of years ago

[00:19:04] [SPEAKER_01]: so maybe 25, 30 now but they're really cheap and they work really well.

[00:19:10] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, if you just set it on your dashboard or set it outside,

[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_01]: those things will charge up real fast and plug it in your phone and you've got at least

[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_01]: one or two full charges off of, you know, off of those things.

[00:19:25] [SPEAKER_00]: And then Kevin, I did like a hand crank, you know, little Noah radio.

[00:19:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[00:19:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Now again, it's one more thing.

[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously the level of radio that you get, you know, it matters.

[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_00]: You can do better and better.

[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_00]: You can do all kinds of solar charges.

[00:19:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Another thing, Harbor Freight always has that $5.00 multimeter.

[00:19:49] [SPEAKER_00]: If you set solar or something, throw in one of those in the bag.

[00:19:53] [SPEAKER_00]: That's huge, you know.

[00:19:55] [SPEAKER_00]: It's going to make the difference.

[00:19:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.

[00:19:58] [SPEAKER_00]: I had the crap in here.

[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Now most, if you have solar panels on your roof or, you know, some are near yard,

[00:20:09] [SPEAKER_01]: those things are not going to be damaged by any MP.

[00:20:12] [SPEAKER_01]: However, the first thing that that solar power goes to, you know,

[00:20:16] [SPEAKER_01]: the first, the first battery, the first connection, that might be damaged because

[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_01]: solar panels will design to collect electricity and it will transfer that power right into

[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_01]: your house and, and they can definitely blow some breakers.

[00:20:31] [SPEAKER_01]: It could definitely set some stuff off.

[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Do you guys know what your solar panels plug into?

[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_00]: They plug into a charge controller.

[00:20:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm.

[00:20:39] [SPEAKER_00]: And when you don't have a charge controller, it kind of sucks.

[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_00]: So that might be something you want to put in the bag.

[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Definitely, if you have solar panels and you have some kind of setup,

[00:20:53] [SPEAKER_00]: you want some kind of charge controller as a backup in the, in the,

[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_00]: varade cage.

[00:21:01] [SPEAKER_00]: I will also say, if your plan is, hey, there's like 20 solar farms within five miles

[00:21:07] [SPEAKER_00]: of my house and I'm just going to go steal those panels from over there.

[00:21:12] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying that's what my plan is.

[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying, if that was your plan, then you would need a charge controller to

[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_00]: accommodate that and you want that protected in your Faraday cage.

[00:21:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Another thing when you're setting up your solar would be a inverter that is going

[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_00]: to take your DC and make it 120.

[00:21:37] [SPEAKER_00]: That's something to think about and something that you would need protected in

[00:21:41] [SPEAKER_00]: your Faraday cage.

[00:21:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Another thing, you know, a lot of prepers big in the Ham radio world.

[00:21:49] [SPEAKER_00]: That's something you want to consider.

[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Let me see.

[00:21:55] [SPEAKER_00]: So something like that, you might want your bowfang Ham radio.

[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_00]: That's nice and cheap.

[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, the more involved, you know, as people do the Ham radio thing,

[00:22:07] [SPEAKER_00]: you find that you start out with something cheap and then you get a little more

[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_00]: impressive and a little better.

[00:22:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe keep the one that's not your main go to as a backup, you move it into the Faraday

[00:22:19] [SPEAKER_00]: cage.

[00:22:21] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, that's the whole thing.

[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_00]: You want something in addition.

[00:22:26] [SPEAKER_00]: I always use when I'm hunting.

[00:22:28] [SPEAKER_00]: I love the Walker headsets.

[00:22:32] [SPEAKER_00]: They basically have like a little microphone.

[00:22:36] [SPEAKER_00]: So it hears everything outside around you, but then it muffles your ear and it has

[00:22:41] [SPEAKER_00]: like noise canceling kind of when you shoot the gun.

[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_00]: I had to say it's a game changer when you're hunting because I could hear like every

[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_00]: foot fall from like 100 yards away at the deer stepping in.

[00:22:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Like no joke when I'm sitting in the tree stand, it's like,

[00:22:57] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, are coming through.

[00:22:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, dude, that guy's he's walking in, you know, no problem.

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_00]: And then half the time it's a squirrel because, you know, that's how it always is.

[00:23:07] [SPEAKER_00]: But the other half, you know, it's the deer, but the bottom line is the deer don't sneak up on

[00:23:12] [SPEAKER_00]: you.

[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_00]: So I love those and I like them so much that they have a set that actually made it into

[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_00]: the Faraday cage.

[00:23:21] [SPEAKER_00]: And I talked about those motorola talk about, well, Walker actually sells these,

[00:23:28] [SPEAKER_00]: my kid sets that will connect to your, you know, ear muffs or whatever.

[00:23:35] [SPEAKER_00]: So that you can have it kind of on the go.

[00:23:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Now those are like another 30 or 40 bucks.

[00:23:41] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't remember exactly, but they're kind of an inexpensive item.

[00:23:45] [SPEAKER_00]: So I only have one, you know, one headset and one like, you know, speaker,

[00:23:53] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, something so I can actually talk and use it like a radio trend seever.

[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I guess is what you would call it.

[00:23:59] [SPEAKER_00]: That's something that, you know, think about, you know, again, it's all your budget, right?

[00:24:04] [SPEAKER_00]: I have about 10 of those radios that talk about in my bag to me.

[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_00]: That's huge.

[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Like I said, being able to, you know, go around to your neighbors, whether it's an EMP

[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_00]: and economic collapse or anything to say, hey, put one of these in your house and,

[00:24:21] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, if somebody comes and gives you a trouble, give me a call and we can kind of have

[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_00]: some kind of mutual assistance, right?

[00:24:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Something like that.

[00:24:29] [SPEAKER_00]: That's huge.

[00:24:31] [SPEAKER_00]: And they're typically line a site.

[00:24:34] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you know, they, they brag like 14 miles.

[00:24:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, yeah, if you're, you know, but top to mountain top, yeah.

[00:24:39] [SPEAKER_00]: But bottom line in your little neighborhood of, you know, two square miles or something,

[00:24:45] [SPEAKER_00]: they are going to work and they're going to be great.

[00:24:48] [SPEAKER_00]: And even you can have somebody out, you know, working in the field and somebody in the house

[00:24:52] [SPEAKER_00]: and a guy up the road, and he can say, hey, you know, this is going on.

[00:24:57] [SPEAKER_00]: And you might want to, now the trick is to not do a podcast episode where you show

[00:25:05] [SPEAKER_00]: everybody all your stuff in your ferritate cage at the same time that any MP happens.

[00:25:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Because that would be just now where stuff's in the air.

[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_00]: And you're like, wait, I had like 500 bucks worth of stuff in there.

[00:25:18] [SPEAKER_00]: And now it's all gone.

[00:25:19] [SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, it sucks to have that much gear tied up where it's not being used.

[00:25:27] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, and you don't have access to it.

[00:25:30] [SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, it's frustrating.

[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_00]: But it's one of those things as you build up your perhaps.

[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, you get more involved in things and more committed to the idea of being prepared.

[00:25:43] [SPEAKER_00]: And again, it's kind of like life, you know?

[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, I obviously have a lot more stuff, more land, more cars, more different things.

[00:25:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Then I did when I was 20.

[00:25:53] [SPEAKER_00]: You know what I was saying?

[00:25:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the guy at phase one of his life, verse the guy at the end phase of his life,

[00:26:00] [SPEAKER_00]: has a different amount of things that you've built up over time.

[00:26:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Right? And, you know, and times like Black Friday and, you know, cyber Monday things like that.

[00:26:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Those are good times to, you know, stock up and prepare.

[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_00]: This isn't something you go and do all at once.

[00:26:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Unless it's, you know, gear you've been collecting, um,

[00:26:20] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, and you're already ready to do it.

[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_00]: But if you start slowly adding and putting that stuff,

[00:26:26] [SPEAKER_00]: now I will say some additional protections that I would do is,

[00:26:32] [SPEAKER_00]: like mine, I actually keep my Friday cage inside a metal shed

[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_00]: and even crazier than that, I actually have one of those job boxes from a pick-up.

[00:26:44] [SPEAKER_00]: And that I don't put in my pick-up because it's, I actually used it when I moved from New York to North Carolina.

[00:26:51] [SPEAKER_00]: I wanted something that I could carry 50 guns and put a padlock on it.

[00:26:55] [SPEAKER_00]: We're not having them in the back seat of my pick-up and get, you know, everybody all riled up,

[00:27:00] [SPEAKER_00]: driving through all those communist states, you know?

[00:27:03] [SPEAKER_00]: And so, you know, I wanted to wait and do that.

[00:27:07] [SPEAKER_00]: So I bought that pickup box for the bottom line.

[00:27:10] [SPEAKER_00]: I stick my Friday cage inside that box and I will say,

[00:27:14] [SPEAKER_00]: if you look at like Facebook, Yard and Sale or Craigslist or something like that,

[00:27:19] [SPEAKER_00]: those boxes are 150 bucks, kind of all day long.

[00:27:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you get a used one pretty cheap.

[00:27:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Again, I don't make that additional step like taping that up.

[00:27:29] [SPEAKER_00]: If that was the only thing I was using,

[00:27:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I would foil tape all those edges and everything.

[00:27:35] [SPEAKER_00]: But again, I have this garbage can inside that inside a shed.

[00:27:42] [SPEAKER_00]: So it's redundancy after redundancy because that's kind of that whole prepper motto, you know, of,

[00:27:48] [SPEAKER_00]: right.

[00:27:49] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, building your hands on one is none.

[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_00]: That's it.

[00:27:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.

[00:27:55] [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, a lot of cool things, you know, we talked about the radio.

[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Did you see anything in the comments that you needed to mention as far as stuff?

[00:28:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I wanted to talk about,

[00:28:09] [SPEAKER_01]: still burn and mention those, those driveway alarms.

[00:28:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Those are those are, that's a really good idea.

[00:28:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I never even thought of that.

[00:28:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Putting some of those in your Friday box so you can set them up around,

[00:28:19] [SPEAKER_01]: round your neighborhood or even just on your driveway if you got a long run.

[00:28:23] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, something to let you know if somebody's coming ahead of time.

[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I had a friend of mine that, uh, smoke large amounts of marijuana.

[00:28:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Add his house in a state that it was very much illegal and he added,

[00:28:35] [SPEAKER_01]: set up on his yard.

[00:28:36] [SPEAKER_01]: So when the school bus came, drop his kids off.

[00:28:39] [SPEAKER_01]: The bus driver didn't see him smoking weed.

[00:28:41] [SPEAKER_01]: He could hide everything before the bus pulled up.

[00:28:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I, you know, whatever different strokes.

[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, you know, it is a good, it is a good head start to know that somebody's

[00:28:51] [SPEAKER_01]: going to be at your house before they're knocking on your door.

[00:28:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. And, uh, and that, you know, that's the sort of thing, though, that, that,

[00:29:05] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, these basic things that we take for granted every day,

[00:29:08] [SPEAKER_01]: um, will be a massive advantage if you have them and nobody else does.

[00:29:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Also it's going to give you a little bit of a head start in a situation when things go sideways.

[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_01]: At least you know you have a few things that you can rely on.

[00:29:23] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, you have walkie talkies.

[00:29:25] [SPEAKER_01]: You have, you know, some of the basic like electronics that you want to use.

[00:29:30] [SPEAKER_01]: One of the people I mentioned in MP3, MP3 player, you know, and I don't even know if those are,

[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I, I, I pods or I don't even know if those are real things anymore.

[00:29:40] [SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean? You just use your cell phone for that sort of stuff.

[00:29:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. But having a bunch of information, right, on an electronic device, a lot of people do like a lot of

[00:29:51] [SPEAKER_00]: for keeping sanity, you know? What about the old like, honestly, a lot of us have bought those,

[00:29:58] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, again, Black Friday, you always seem to Amazon always has those fire tablets for like 29 bucks.

[00:30:05] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, they have a like Jeep older version or whatever, you know, if you're, I don't know,

[00:30:09] [SPEAKER_00]: what are they like, 10 or something right now? I don't know. But like, I know I have like a fire

[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_00]: seven or something like that. You know, again, I've moved on. Now I have an iPad that I have at work

[00:30:20] [SPEAKER_00]: or whatever that because I don't have internet and whatever we won't talk about why I'm watching

[00:30:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Netflix and Amazon Prime at work or, you know, who Lou and her. We're not gonna mention it.

[00:30:31] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, you need those things like to get through the work day, right? I mean, like in a movie,

[00:30:36] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, people are like, aesthetically, yeah, right, right. So, but anyway, so you have the old one,

[00:30:43] [SPEAKER_00]: you loaded up with all these PDFs of how to manuals that kind of thing. But also having some

[00:30:50] [SPEAKER_00]: movies on there, some, you know, some music or something that maybe that helps keep the sanity

[00:30:56] [SPEAKER_00]: in the family. You know, people think everything's gonna be like Rambo, Kamando stuff,

[00:31:02] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, in the apocalypse and maybe you need to keep everybody from crying and, you know,

[00:31:08] [SPEAKER_01]: fall it out, right? Right. I mean, I know a lot of those types of situations people go,

[00:31:15] [SPEAKER_01]: off-grid, you know, I'm into that sort of stuff. I watch TV shows and all that sort of,

[00:31:20] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, sort of thing. But one of the things is a lot of people don't think about how much time

[00:31:25] [SPEAKER_01]: they spend watching TV listening to the radio doing all sorts of, you know, all sorts of stuff

[00:31:32] [SPEAKER_01]: that modern life affords us. But, you know, having some books, having some basic stuff just around

[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_01]: your house, not in your fairytale. It's like actual books made out of paper and stuff. Those ones.

[00:31:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Today make those sending more? They won't, not really. But you can, if you go to the library,

[00:31:51] [SPEAKER_01]: they're just giving a half of them. You can just take over there too. Don't really have these

[00:31:54] [SPEAKER_01]: books. So like, you're sort of tired of box right now. They're not, you know, they're not valuable anymore.

[00:32:00] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, trying to donate some books to your library. They're, they're like,

[00:32:03] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah, just stick into the back of my mouth. They don't even want that. Sometimes they're like,

[00:32:08] [SPEAKER_00]: you're not bringing that in here. Don't leave your garbage here. No, no, no books here.

[00:32:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, now it's a crazy world we live in that, you know, they don't want libraries or don't

[00:32:19] [SPEAKER_00]: want books anymore. But, um, upset after the event blackout curtains and soundproofing. I like it.

[00:32:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. When you open your fairytale cage, you don't want to advertise. I was talking about a friend of mine.

[00:32:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, he's not, not really a proper, but he's, you know, he's

[00:32:37] [SPEAKER_01]: a reasonable individual. And he is talking about the NPC actually brought it up. It's not just me being crazy.

[00:32:43] [SPEAKER_01]: No, you're talking about this stuff all the time. But uh, and he's like, you know, if you,

[00:32:49] [SPEAKER_01]: everybody else is out of power and you have lights on, they're going to come near house. Yeah,

[00:32:53] [SPEAKER_01]: because they're, you go to those people away. He goes, of course not. You know, I'm a good Christian guy.

[00:32:57] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, hey, maybe not the first two people or the first 10 people. But, you know, after

[00:33:03] [SPEAKER_01]: you got 20 or 30 people showing up, that's not your stuff anymore. It's their stuff. And they're

[00:33:07] [SPEAKER_00]: going to take it from. I can end well. Um, actually, I actually completed a project just the other day.

[00:33:15] [SPEAKER_00]: So this is the first for me. So I have a, uh, a room in, in a, like, old farmhouse thing that we have.

[00:33:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I do like little repair work, right? And I don't leave good things over there because it's not the

[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_00]: most secure building. But I've been trying to step up my game of, you know, securing it. So

[00:33:38] [SPEAKER_00]: anyway, this one room, I decided to make like the fortress in the one room and, uh, you know,

[00:33:45] [SPEAKER_00]: where I keep my stuff. So I can start to feel a little more comfortable. Like, oh, I pulled that

[00:33:50] [SPEAKER_00]: shot gun apart. I can be all the parts on the table and not have to bring them back into my house

[00:33:55] [SPEAKER_00]: and lock them up at the end of the day. You know, little things. I'm not leaving the whole gun collection

[00:34:00] [SPEAKER_00]: over there, or, you know, something that's going to be a problem. But little things that I don't want

[00:34:05] [SPEAKER_00]: to have to think about. So anyway, has these old farm windows? Whatever, I have access to a lot of

[00:34:12] [SPEAKER_00]: free plywood from where I work. And I ended up painting a black and putting them up over the window.

[00:34:19] [SPEAKER_00]: So you look at the window. You just see black and it just looks like normal shadows. I got to

[00:34:24] [SPEAKER_00]: say, I went up to it and you can get within like seven feet before you realize it's there's

[00:34:31] [SPEAKER_00]: something wrong with the window. You know, like you have to be right there kind of looking in

[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_00]: and then you're like, wait a minute, this isn't right? Because, you know, they're old windows. So they're

[00:34:40] [SPEAKER_00]: kind of cloudy anyway. And you know, a diffy. And then I just painted a black and then inside the room

[00:34:46] [SPEAKER_00]: it's white. So I just painted the backside white and went right around. But that way they're screwed

[00:34:52] [SPEAKER_00]: in, it's all secure. And then I threw a deadbolt on the door and you know, everything's just kind of

[00:34:58] [SPEAKER_00]: locked into the one room. And but it also affords me just like, you know, Uncle Whiskey had mentioned,

[00:35:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I think, that you can have complete darkness. You know, you can go in there and I can turn on a

[00:35:16] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, coming from that room. So you don't know if you're breaking in if you're going to open the door

[00:35:21] [SPEAKER_00]: and there I am sitting there gunsmithing and you're like, right with all the lights on it.

[00:35:26] [SPEAKER_00]: It's locked for a great go. Yeah, right. And I'm ready to go and you got a problem. So,

[00:35:32] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, that's something you want to consider. You know, you could do things like that is,

[00:35:37] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, you could have the basement. You could have the areas. But really do you need light at night

[00:35:42] [SPEAKER_00]: or can you kind of learn to work with things. You know, that's right. You need to understand the

[00:35:47] [SPEAKER_00]: world that you live in. You know, people talk about, oh, I can't cook because they're going to smell

[00:35:51] [SPEAKER_00]: the my barbecue, you know, coming from up the road and they're going to come kill me for it. Well,

[00:35:56] [SPEAKER_00]: definitely there could be a season where that happens. Right. Um, you know, you should have a backup plan.

[00:36:04] [SPEAKER_00]: I will say chimneys go a long way with putting it up with dissipating the smell of things. You know,

[00:36:12] [SPEAKER_00]: if you can kind of put it 10 feet up or, you know, 12 feet up, whatever. It really does make a

[00:36:19] [SPEAKER_00]: difference. But obviously, you know, people are going to smell smoke. I'm not, you know, I'm not in

[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_00]: some fantasy world. I'm just saying you could do better for yourself than, you know, not you might

[00:36:30] [SPEAKER_00]: advertise to the half a mile around you instead of the mile around you. You know, that kind of thing.

[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, I think that a lot of that stuff, um, you know, a lot of that stuff is

[00:36:42] [SPEAKER_01]: what do they say? 10% of the work gets you 90% of the way there. You know, when it comes to

[00:36:48] [SPEAKER_01]: prepping, that's really a lot of what I, you know, a lot of what I think. If you have a little

[00:36:53] [SPEAKER_01]: fair day cage and you've got some walkie talkies in there and nothing else, that's a big jump

[00:36:58] [SPEAKER_01]: start around everybody else. You know, if you have, you know, two months worth of food versus two

[00:37:05] [SPEAKER_01]: weeks worth of food, that's a big head start right there. Yeah, there's a lot of small stuff you

[00:37:10] [SPEAKER_01]: can do is a proper that isn't very expensive that can get you a mile ahead everybody else,

[00:37:17] [SPEAKER_01]: just with some basic low cost, you know, low cost protection, low cost, uh,

[00:37:27] [SPEAKER_00]: low cost thing. Low investment, low investment. Yeah. So I think that a, to quote a fire hole.

[00:37:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah. I think a lot of that stuff is, is overlooked. You know, people say, oh, I need my,

[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_01]: my two-year supply from my Patreus supply. I need my, this and that, I needed, you know, have 15

[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_01]: guns and, and, you know, 10,000 rounds of ammunition and, and all that sort of stuff. You do need that,

[00:37:52] [SPEAKER_01]: just so you know, you need to move to the next time. You know, that's the second step. You can start

[00:37:57] [SPEAKER_01]: at step one with some small investment and some basic planning and, and be way ahead of

[00:38:05] [SPEAKER_01]: everybody else in these sorts of situations. Nice. Now that's that's right. But yeah,

[00:38:12] [SPEAKER_00]: I actually back to the smokeless fire thing, but there is that hole that codifier hole.

[00:38:16] [SPEAKER_00]: You guys look it up and they actually build it like right against a tree. It really does get you

[00:38:22] [SPEAKER_00]: pretty smokeless and allows you to cook and do that kind of thing. Obviously, you know, if you

[00:38:29] [SPEAKER_00]: start playing with fires and doing things outside, you start to learn that using dry wood and not

[00:38:35] [SPEAKER_00]: burning leaves, things like that. You really can cut down the amount of smoke. But obviously,

[00:38:41] [SPEAKER_00]: dripping some brisket fat, you know, in the fire while you're cooking, that's pretty hard to hide

[00:38:47] [SPEAKER_00]: matter how you do it. You know, not in some fantasy land, you know, I know Chris is always

[00:38:54] [SPEAKER_00]: ham radio license. And that's the thing. It's always, you know, he had mentioned that,

[00:39:01] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, learning the ham radio instead of just throwing one in the fire day gauge,

[00:39:05] [SPEAKER_00]: getting the license and using it would make you comfortable and whatever. But that's honestly

[00:39:11] [SPEAKER_00]: with anything prepping. That's go out and move your body outside in the, you know, if you,

[00:39:17] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, never go outside the house and move and all of a sudden you're expecting, oh yeah,

[00:39:22] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to chop my own firewood and I'm going to whatever that's a dramatic change.

[00:39:27] [SPEAKER_00]: If you think you're going to pick up a handgun and be a Navy seal,

[00:39:32] [SPEAKER_00]: that's maybe something you want to practice a little bit beforehand. You know, stamina is huge.

[00:39:40] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, actually going out and moving and, you know, getting your body used to kind of,

[00:39:46] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, doing things is going to be a big game changer in the, you know, when times are tough

[00:39:51] [SPEAKER_00]: and you're actually trying to protect your family and things. It's funny, we, in the comments

[00:39:57] [SPEAKER_00]: from the last the EMP episode, somebody put about why don't think this is practical and likely

[00:40:03] [SPEAKER_00]: and, you know, whatever. I don't think that it's going to, you know, ever happen. And, you know,

[00:40:09] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we're all entitled to our opinion and it's a long shot but I got to keep changing.

[00:40:18] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think it's as long as you know, just because something's never happened in your lifetime

[00:40:24] [SPEAKER_00]: doesn't mean it can't happen. Um, countries go to war and things get bad and in America we've had

[00:40:32] [SPEAKER_00]: pretty cushy. Um, we've not had anything, you know, on the home land for a long time, you know,

[00:40:39] [SPEAKER_00]: obviously September 11th was was kind of a wake-up call of, hey, people can't attack us, you know,

[00:40:46] [SPEAKER_01]: that's right. That's right and, you know, a lot of that stuff is, is a, you know, a lot of these

[00:40:53] [SPEAKER_01]: EMP, these things are our new technologies, right? But solar flares have happened before

[00:40:58] [SPEAKER_01]: and have damaged equipment. You know, and there wasn't that much equipment, the Carrington event,

[00:41:04] [SPEAKER_01]: right? You know, it was, uh, took out, took out, you know, some basic, some basic stuff but they didn't,

[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_01]: they weren't running on electric grid, right? They were running, uh, you know, there were running cars

[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_01]: and trains and buses and planes and all that sort of stuff that we use every day today, you know,

[00:41:22] [SPEAKER_01]: television, electricity, electric heat, light, you know, that wasn't a big thing then, you know,

[00:41:28] [SPEAKER_01]: they were prepared. They knew what the, they were doing. They had candles, they had lamps. They had,

[00:41:34] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, all that sort of stuff. But, you know, today we're not, we're not as prepared as people

[00:41:40] [SPEAKER_01]: were, you know, to not use electricity when they weren't using electricity, you know, we're so accustomed

[00:41:46] [SPEAKER_01]: to it now that, you know, the power goes out for two hours and it's a huge inconvenience here.

[00:41:52] [SPEAKER_01]: And we, oh, our food and our refrigerator is going to go bad. Well, you know, maybe, uh,

[00:41:58] [SPEAKER_01]: it's stored up that's not, you don't need a refrigerator for, you know, maybe have some,

[00:42:04] [SPEAKER_01]: some lighting situation set up that you don't need an electric, you know, electric grid for.

[00:42:09] [SPEAKER_01]: You don't need to plug in in the wall. Have some things prepared and, uh, you know, when the

[00:42:15] [SPEAKER_01]: lights do go out, maybe it won't be such a, uh, such a terrible event even if it's for a day or two.

[00:42:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no exactly. Um, and, you know, it's funny as I was going through some of the comments while

[00:42:27] [SPEAKER_00]: we were talking, I get a chance to look at them. I can't always follow it. Well, oh my,

[00:42:33] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, trying to talk in an area, uh, continuous thought and then at the same time,

[00:42:40] [SPEAKER_00]: be reading first time we did a live thing. It like kicked my ass, you know, looking at the

[00:42:45] [SPEAKER_00]: comments and trying to read and I'm like, I'm right on, I'm dumb, hang on, I have to read for a minute.

[00:42:50] [SPEAKER_00]: But one of the things, you know, somebody mentioned in the comments earlier,

[00:42:53] [SPEAKER_00]: slower and I think was, you know, job boxes and fuel transfer tanks. Uh, even like a 55 gallon

[00:43:01] [SPEAKER_00]: drum if you can seal it up, you know, different things like that. There are so many things, but think

[00:43:06] [SPEAKER_00]: of a big metal box that you can seal. Um, I got super excited that if believe it or not,

[00:43:14] [SPEAKER_00]: if, you know, somebody had mentioned a containers, which are awesome, you know, like, uh,

[00:43:19] [SPEAKER_00]: kind of Xbox's 18 million. You could seal that up and, and they actually, I know there are

[00:43:25] [SPEAKER_00]: companies out there that do make EMP proof kind of, you know, I've seen them. You're going to pay.

[00:43:30] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure you could rig up something on your own that would be as effective for a substantially

[00:43:36] [SPEAKER_00]: cheaper price. But one of the other things you could think about, I just put together a, um, refrigerator,

[00:43:47] [SPEAKER_00]: they're all closed up and we actually seal all the gaps with foil tape, you know, in the one

[00:43:53] [SPEAKER_00]: that I have, that's another option. I mean, I bought one used for 500 bucks for the wife's like

[00:44:00] [SPEAKER_00]: flower farm thing turns out it works out really well for, uh, hanging deer in if you lived in

[00:44:06] [SPEAKER_00]: warmer climate. You know, sure there might be fluids dripping into the flowers, but you know,

[00:44:14] [SPEAKER_00]: you've got to be you, you know, you've got to live your best life. That's what I say. So another thing,

[00:44:21] [SPEAKER_00]: again, sponsor for the episode EMP shield, uh, that's definitely something that could protect

[00:44:28] [SPEAKER_00]: your car. Um, you want to get home to that Faraday cage and all your supplies and all your stuff.

[00:44:36] [SPEAKER_00]: EMP shield if you use code badass, uh, it'll save you. I think it's about 50 bucks. I think the,

[00:44:42] [SPEAKER_00]: savings changes, you know, with different things. But depending what they have going on,

[00:44:48] [SPEAKER_00]: but their stuff is actually tested. Will work. It's been proven. Um, I mean, that's

[00:44:55] [SPEAKER_00]: thing. I was so worried about, you know, it's that stuff really going to work and, and it's tested.

[00:44:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I really before I was willing to, you know, promote it and talk about it. I wanted to make sure

[00:45:05] [SPEAKER_00]: it was going to be something that's real. Um, we obviously went a little more into detail about

[00:45:10] [SPEAKER_00]: what it does for your vehicles or for your house in the last episode. But definitely we're checking them

[00:45:15] [SPEAKER_00]: out and they can save you some bucks if you use code badass. Um, few guys have show ideas,

[00:45:22] [SPEAKER_00]: thoughts, concerns, email us at preppingbadassadgmail.com. Um, we also, uh, you know, we have an

[00:45:31] [SPEAKER_00]: after show you guys might want to stay around. See what we have talked about. Some other good
